God Says You have enough already

Have you ever considered that you’ve already got what you need? Every day, we are burdened with worries such as not having enough talent, money, or power. Jesus is whispering daily that if you have him, you have enough.

1) All Treasures already belong to you

My Husband and I have been married for nearly 20 years now. We have three sons that we are raising. Since my oldest was five, I have kept a journal for each of my boys. Starting at that age, I began recording significant events and moments in their lives. My goal is to create a collection of writings, thoughts, and love letters for each of my sons, which I plan to give to them when they are old enough to appreciate them.

When my oldest son was about to lose his first tooth, he couldn’t wait for it to come out because we had told him that when it did, the tooth fairy would come and replace it with treasured gifts. He wiggled that tooth and wiggled it. He couldn’t wait for it to come out.

Finally, the tooth came out. That night, he dove into bed at bedtime and could not wait. He put the tooth underneath the pillow. He lay his head down, and he was trying to go to sleep. But every three to five seconds, he would look under the pillow to see if anything had happened.

Finally, he fell asleep. My husband got up at about three o’clock AM and replaced the tooth with a treasure. In the morning, I could hear the excitement, the squeals, and the stomps on the floor. I could hear the eagerness and enthusiasm because the tooth fairy had come and left the treasure.

They bounded down the stairs into the room. Jackson’s fists were clenched. He ran to me and said, “Mum! The tooth fairy came, and she left me a treasure.” He opened one hand: it was a package of gummy bears; the other hand held five dollars.

I grew up in the days of dimes and nickels. How could my husband have given him a whole five dollars? I was annoyed about this five-dollar situation. My husband could see that I was not happy.

After Jackson left the room, my husband came over to me, and he said, “Do you remember that last month was Jackson’s fifth birthday, and we invited family and friends over? Most of them had cards, and in those cards were five-dollar bills.” He said, “Do you remember we took all those five-dollar bills and put them in a birthday drawer in the kitchen?”

So, that morning, what I had witnessed was my little boy getting excited about the treasure that actually already belonged to him.

There is a treasure hidden in the earth that already belongs to you. By God’s spirit, gifts and powers have been entrusted to you. These gifts are available to you and me as sons and daughters of the Most High King.

2) Belief in what Christ has done for you

Our victory in Christ lies in our belief. You must believe that what the scriptures declare about you is true. You must believe that you have been forgiven, that the enemy is underneath your feet, and that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. You have been made competent by the spirit of God.

If you do not believe it, the enemy does, and that is why he keeps attacking your life. He knows who you are. What a shame it would be for him to know, while we do not.

It is time to open up the drawer and start pulling out the treasure. There are many treasures we have been ignoring, calling them insignificant.

Sometimes, we undermine our gifts and say, “If I could just be like her or him,” or “If I could have much more.” God says, “You have enough.”

3) You have enough to do ministry

Luke 9:1-2 “And he called the 12 together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to heal all diseases, and he sent them out.”

He called them. He gave them treasure, and then he sent them out.

Luke 9:10: They returned to him, and they gave an account to him of everything they had done.

He withdrew by himself to a hill called Bethsaida. The multitudes were aware of this. Wherever Jesus went, a crowd was sure to follow. The crowd followed, and Jesus spoke to them about the kingdom of God and curing those who were in need of healing.

So, the day starts to come to a close, and the 12 come to Jesus and say, “You are going to have to send this multitude away. They have got to go into the surrounding villages and countryside and find lodging and food.”

Jesus said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “Jesus, we have no more than five loaves and two fish unless you let us go and buy food for all these people because, you know, the food is not enough as we are right now.”

There were about 5,000 men. Scholars say Luke specifies men because there were women and children as well. So, there were probably about 15,000 hungry people that day. Jesus said, “Have them reclined to eat in groups of about 50 each.” He took the five loaves and the two fish. And looking up to heaven, he blessed them. The multitude ate and were all satisfied. And just so you know how satisfied they were, they went by and picked up all the leftovers because there was overflow.

If you were a believer in Jesus Christ, you got an assignment. And do not let anybody tell you that your assignment is not ministry just because it happens to be in a corporate setting. If you are a mother who has chosen to stay home with those kids, do not let anybody tell you it is not a ministry. Every single time you make chicken for dinner, set it on the table, and teach those kids a Bible verse before bedtime, do not let anybody tell you it is not ministry.

Corporate women, when you sit around that boardroom table, and you are the only one with ideals that align with the truth of Scripture, in a room with others who are thinking, acting, and planning in a way that is not in line with God’s Word, do not let anyone tell you that you are not in a ministry environment.

4) We have been entrusted with enough

Every single one of us has an assignment, and the day is coming when we have to give an account. The day is coming, and you don’t know the day or the hour. Neither do I know when we will stand before Jesus and give an account of how we handled what he entrusted to us.

How are you handling your assignment? If you are 20, but you only have till 30, you are pretty old. If you are 50 and expect to live until 100, you are pretty young. Age is just a number. I cannot qualify as young or old based on my birth date. It is based on our death date, and since we do not know when that day is, walk in a manner worthy of the calling by which you have been called.

Would you have a well done when you meet him face to face? When you meet him, he will not ask how many Instagram followers you have or how many folks liked your page. God’s calling superseded any personal ambition that you have. The disciples laid down whatever they were doing because they heard the call of God beckoning them to do something else.

God has given us the Holy Spirit so that each of us has the privilege of hearing the calling of God in our lives. Heed the call of God on your life. God has given us power and authority over our assignment. He has not just sent us but equipped us with supernatural power to be able to pull it off.

5) You are well-equipped enough to do God’s bidding

Do not panic because you do not have the money, the talents, or the patience to do what he has called you to do. God does not call people who are already equipped. He chooses the incompetent and makes them competent for the task at hand. He calls you. And then, for the people who say yes, he equips them with what they need for the calling.

He entrusted them with power and authority, which is very important in our Christian lives because to accomplish supernatural tasks, you have to have supernatural capacity.

You can be the most talented person in the world. But if you go in your own strength and power, you still won’t be able to accomplish God’s calling in your life. It requires what only God himself can give to you to accomplish the task.

The enemy hopes you will go in your power. He hopes you will think you are flashy, savvy, talented, and impressive enough. He wants you to lean on your own understanding rather than on God. It is not by power and not by might but by the spirit of God. Some trust in horses, others in their chariots, but not us. We trust in the name of the Lord our God.

God is the one who sends. Resist the urge to send yourself. Do not do something that is not yet time for. As important as our calling is, the timing of that calling in our lives is equally important.

If you go too soon to give birth, which is not yet God’s time, you might abort the baby. You need spiritual backbone and fortification. That spotlight that you may be craving, if it hits you and you have no character, it will burn you to a crisp.

6) Stop acting like God has not given you everything

The disciples came back to Jesus tired. Jesus did not say, “Go away from me and get yourself together.” But he said, “Come away with me.”

The cure for your exhaustion is intimacy with Jesus. You might be tired of your marriage, raising those toddlers, or tired of your ministry. The sole cure for your tiredness is intimacy with Jesus.

Take the holiday, take the vacation, and tell them you need a little sabbatical. Take the holiday, but don’t take a holiday from Jesus. Don’t take a sabbatical from your relationship with the Lord. Prayer shouldn’t exist in your schedule because you are on your rest days. You still need to be the deer that pants after the water. Your soul has still got to be replenished and can only be replenished when you have intimacy with him.

Do you feel pressed down by a multitude of issues and concerns? Is there something overwhelming that is bigger than your capacity to handle? Pull out the treasure that you would have otherwise ignored. Place it in the hands of a multiplying master. He will take your little bit of capacity and make it a lot.

There is no replenishing like watching God multiply your loaves and fish. There is a treasure waiting to be unveiled. Stop acting like God has not given you everything you need. Recognize the little bit, talents, money, and dreams, and entrust them into the hands of a multiplying master.

7) There are enough loaves of bread in your life

Here is what the disciple said, “Send the multitude away!”

Here is how we behave most of the time. We do not just say it, but we pray it away. We do not even recognize that it is the gift he has given us, pressing us to open our drawers. Don’t pray the multitude away. It is in God’s sovereignty that he has left it in your life. 

If there is a multitude, that means there are loaves and fish somewhere in your life that are supposed to be entrusted into the hands of God.

Jesus welcomed what they were wishing away. The disciples say, “Get this multitude away.” They do not even know they are praying away their miracle.

Everybody wants to see the Red Sea divide, but nobody wants to be the one who comes face to face with the Red Sea. Everybody wants to see the walls of Jericho come tumbling down, but nobody wants to be the one who has to walk around those walls.

8) If there is a multitude, that means there is a miracle.

The disciples asked for the multitude to go away, but Jesus did not go for that. The disciples had another solution, which exemplifies our behavior.  They said, “Well! Send us away then!”

They said, “Send us to the surrounding towns and villages so that we can go and buy more, accumulate more because what we have is not sufficient.”

It has always been the tactic of the enemy to get us to think that we are not enough as we currently are. What we currently have is sufficient for the task that is before us.

But if the Lord has allowed that multitude into your experience, it means you have enough power and authority. You just have to pull out what has already been entrusted to you to handle the bad situation.

If you will just look, you will see that the thing you are complaining about is something you already have access to. Spend all of the energy that you are spending complaining by looking for what God has already given you access to.

9) Pulled it out and put it in the hands of Jesus.

Everything changes when you put your five and two in the hands of Jesus. Everything changes when you stop speaking negatively about it and just trust it in the hands of Jesus. Take that little dream of yours and say, “I do not look like much right now, but I am putting it in your hands.”

God takes the meager gifts of men and turns them into wonder. If only you would give it to him, he would be ready to receive it. God does not need us or our loaves and fish.

And Jesus, looking up to heaven, He blessed it. You do not need more; you need God’s blessing on what you already have. His blessing is favor. Favor is what makes the scale balance in your favor. Favor is what makes things a little bit unfair on your behalf. Favor is what opens doors that nobody can shut. Favor is what puts you in positions that nobody can take away.

The favor of God is what you need in your life– on your five and two–fish and loaves.

10) There is always an overflow of blessings in our lives

Ephesians 3: 20-21.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.ss

Jesus wants you to recline and get in a posture of expectation. He is getting ready to do exceedingly, abundantly, and beyond anything that you can ask for in faith.

They started going around, picking up the leftovers, and there were 12 baskets full. One basket for each disciple to take home as an overflow of the grace and the blessing of God.

Have you got a multitude weighing on you, burdening you? You already got what you need to deal with those issues in Jesus’ name.

Start living, praying, and acting like people who believe in a God of abundance. He can do above all that we ask for in faith in Jesus’ name. Friends, no matter what trouble you are facing today, God has already provided the wisdom, courage, and strength you need.
